i’ve never been the type to plan out my wedding before i even had a boyfriend, or imagine the colour of the walls of my first home. i’ve never decided on a number of children i want to have or what their names will be. but the first time i read the words of mister Vonnegut, i did decide that they were more important than anything else i could think of to say to my babies when i finally meet them:

“hello, babies. welcome to Earth. it’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. it’s round and wet and crowded. at the outside, babies, you’ve got about a hundred years here. there’s only one rule that I know of, babies — ‘god damn it, you’ve got to be kind.’”
